We’ve been invaded by chicken pox for the first time this week. Not going too badly so far.
I got a new desk that’s big enough to hold more than a small laptop. Yay. Good timing, too, because Purity is driving me nuts. I have four different versions of the story open in an attempt to make one final file, so I need two screens next to each other to save me from going completely insane. Apparently, I like doing things the hard way.
But at least the kids have a decent place to do their never-ending homework now. And they love me at the moment (even forgiving me for spending too much time in the office) because I’m back to making up bedtime stories. A chapter a night (which equals to a half-hour of talking in a variety of voices and waving my arms around and in general looking like a twit) always ending at a scary noise because that’s how we roll. Yo.
We got in a new internet option, and when it works, it’s great. But it doesn’t seem to enjoy working for me, yet it happily works perfectly for my OH (the pox), so it’s less than reliable.
All things considered (chicken pox, homework, staring at a blank screen for an hour a day, crappy ‘net, making up insane stories for the kids), I’m going to take a proper break from online bizniz for a couple of weeks. Mostly, anyway. I’m tired. I want to write new stuff. I want to finish old stuff. I need to cut down the distractions. And spending more time trying to make the stupid connection work than I spend answering emails and stuff is a massive distraction.
In two weeks, I’ll need beta readers. This is me giving myself a deadline. I would ideally prefer beta readers who have worked with me before, and also read y/a paranormal stuff. I need, like, two more, so if you’re into it, email me, and I’ll let you know what the deal is, so you can see if you’re interested. Note: it’s not for Ava or Cursed.
Verity, Clarity (including Adversity), Awakening (Thirst, Taunt, Tempt), and Taken are now available in paperback on Amazon and other places. I’ll set up the proper info when I have more time. For all three of you who are interested.
Lately, my evening breaks have consisted of watching Dallas. Yes, seriously. I can’t remember watching it as a kid, but I was keen to see how the new version would work. Oh, the drama.
I haven’t been reading much – too much staring hurtin’ mah eyes – but I think I’ve read Easy, and the Wild Ones since I last updated. Both easy reads. I bought the Wild Ones because I usually enjoy M. Leighton’s writing style, and I think I bought Easy after I read a review on Dear Author. (Yes, it’s probably weird that I subscribe to a blog that mainly reviews romance novels when I have this happy ending hatin’ black heart, but they’re just so well-written). I gave up after the first chapter, then everyone was talking about it, so I picked it up again and read through to the end, pretty much. Again, I can see why both of these books get a lot of love, and I now want to adopt a mustang.
I’ve been listening to pretty much anything that’s ever been on Supernatural – partly out of mourning because the new season won’t be shown here for a loooong time, and I can’t stream it. Also had this on repeat, caught it on my Facebook feed thingy.
